To be eligible for membership, an applicant must be 18 years of age and able to prove herself a lineal descendent from a man or woman who aided in the cause of American independence during the revolutionary period. The ancestor may have served as a sailor, a soldier, a civil officer, or as a recognized patriot at that time.
